Twelfth Night

By William Shakespeare
Directed by Kate Coogan

Shakespeare’s comedy Twelfth Night explores humour and heartbreak through a story of mistaken identities, romantic confusion and unrequited love. Twins Viola and Sebastian are separated in a shipwreck off the coast of Illyria. Believing her brother has drowned, Viola disguises her gender and goes by the name of Cesario to work for Duke Orsino, falls in love with him, then is sent to woo countess Olivia on the Duke’s behalf. Meanwhile, Olivia becomes infatuated with Cesario and Malvolio is led to believe that Viola loves him… only for Sebastian to turn up alive.
